Faith is growing up so quickly and I don't want to forget some of the special things she has been doing these past couple of weeks, so the perfect solution was for me share it with our friends and family on the blog.
- One night this week we had peaches and cream for dessert. Faith LOVES cool whip. When a little of it fell onto her chair, she asked for a napkin to clean it up but then changed her mind and used her hand instead! It was still perfectly good whip cool whip (at least in Faith's opinion) and she didn't want it to go to waste. So she ate all of it off of her hand instead. :-)
- The other day, for some reason, we were briefly watching winter sports on television together as a family. There was an amazing skier, going really fast on the slopes and I said, "Wow! That's fast!" Faith looked at me with the most serious of faces, "I don't do that. I LITTLE girl. I fall!" She then made a sad, cute pout of a face just thinking about falling down a ski slope.
- She still loves wearing her dresses and being a princess. I have, as of this week, told Faith she does not get the "free choice" of choosing her own clothes for the day, until she wears what mommy picks out for her for at least a full week. It has been tortuous for her to have to wear pants or jeans. I know it sounds a little silly and perhaps not even worth the fight, but its important for Brad and I to establish authority even in the small things. And another thing, nearly as important, is that sometimes its just warmer (in 26 degree weather) to wear pants. :-)
- Last night, I laid Faith down for bed (Jillian was at at Cubbies) and I said a prayer for her and then snuggled up close to her. She whispered in my ear. "Mommy, you make my bad dreams go away." (She is not the best sleeper, and hasn't been since a baby, and sometimes wakes and is unable to fall back asleep.)
"Yes, God will help."
"Thank you mama."
A few seconds passed and then she softly whispered in my ear, "I love you" and then not more than a three minutes passed and she was asleep. I just looked into her little face and was simply amazed by how big she is getting. She looks much more like the little girl than she does the toddler anymore. She is a beautiful, sweet, little girl and I am thankful to have her as my little three year old.
- She is also starting to grasp some difficult concepts for a three year old. I sometimes tell Faith "You are so cute, I could just eat you up!". Just last month, she would respond always... "No! That make me sad, I (would) be all gone! But a couple of weeks ago, we were looking at a friends blog and she saw our friends adorable almost two year old and she said "She's cute. I eat her up!" She forgot the "could just" but I think she got the concept anyway! :-)
- Tonight we had pizza for dinner.
Faith was very excited and said to her daddy, "I like pizza!"
Brad responded, "Do you know what I like?"
"What?" she asked.
"Faith!" Daddy exclaimed.
She looked a little confused, "I (am) not a food!"
- Faith adores her baby dolls and has names for her three most special ones.
#1- The Corolle doll we gave her last Valentine's Day to replace the one whose arm was falling off is named "Flower". Our friend, Chris Hoover accidently named her when he came for a visit last summer. He was trying to brainstorm with the girls a name and said "oh she has a nice flower shirt" and they decided right then and there, her name would be "Flower".
#2- Over Christmas my Mimi gave Faith a baby doll and she had just played Mary in the MOPPETS performance at our church, so she gave her baby the name "Mary" (when Faith says it, it sounds like "Murrey").
#3- I was cleaning out some things in my closet last week and Faith was with me "helping" when she discovered her old doll from Mimi and PawPaw. It doesn't have clothes on it and the arm is falling off. Its in a pretty disheveled shape, so Faith decided that the appropriate name for that mess of a baby was "BOY"! :-) She thought of it all by herself and continues to call that poor baby doll "boy" every day!
