A Happy Spring Break

I bought a Certifikid voucher for 1/2 price tickets to go to the Bethesda playseum with the girls.  I thought going the first day of Spring Break was the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of our vacation, and it was!   It is a very "urban" museum and was very small, but the kids had a super good time. When we first came in the door, we were greeted by a painted mural of many of our favorite children's book characters (Berenstein Bears being the absolute favorite)!
Because Brad works in Bethesda, we called him on the cell phone on our way there to see if he had a couple of hours to spare to come PLAY with us! He was delighted to join us, and even got a complimentary teeth-cleaning out of the deal! ;-)

Then we moved onto lunch at Domino's.  Jillian made a super supreme pizza for her daddy and Faith made me a simple sauce and pepperoni pizza.
Then we explored the music room and made some fun MUSIC!

While enjoying the rumba of the music, Anna and I decided to try on some costumes.
Then the girls did some much needed grocery store shopping. Jillian bought lots of Capri Suns on her shopping trip...

and paid the cashier Faith in cash for all of her purchases.

Faith with her sweet daddy!

Brad explaining to Jillian that before we had computers, there was a thing called type-writers!

(Reflecting back on my childhood as an adult, one of my most cherished memories is my mom helping me, as an elementary school student, type a report on the typewriter.  We didn't have a computer at that time and I was not very proficient at typing without a delete key, so my mom did it as a gift for me.   My mom was not a fantastic typist herself and add to that, she had to do it completely ONE-HANDED (because of an injury, she had her left arm in a sling at the time). I will always remember that act of service as a true gift of love from my mom! )

The girls had so much fun glueing and decorating their little spring chicks in the craft room at the museum. It was the perfect finale to our trip.

But then we came home to have more fun! We baked some yellow cake cupcakes with chocolate icing and then decorated them with lots of sprinkles.
Yummy!

Faith had the most sticky, glittery fingers!

The girls did a fantastic job! After our "work" was done, we went upstair for a special treat....FINGER NAIL PAINTING! By this time, little Anna woke up from her nap, and we included her in the fun too! (Please refrain from looking closely at the floor in my bedroom, because there may be a little pink nail polish on the carpet to commemorate our special memory together! LOL!)
During the weekend, we enjoyed glorious weather as well as celebrating Palm Sunday at church!

Then on Monday morning, the girls and I enjoyed play time in the nursery.

This blue cloud background came in the box with Anna's new Little People farm for her birthday.  Jillian creatively turned it into a Little People beach!

Faith had fun creating a whole carriage of mini "My Little Ponies" as they rode from the beach, to the zoo, to the farm, and finally to the castle!  That afternoon, we went over to Aunt Michelle's to play with Lindsey and then the next day we had a play-date with Mrs. C and her two girls at their house!

Jillian also had a VERY special surprise in the mail....a package from her friend XANDRA!!!  Jillian loves all of her notes and her new home-made necklace too! She even wore it last night to Sparks.

It was a great beginning to Spring Break, but we were ready for EVEN more fun as we prepared for our trip home to see family in Texas!!!

More to Come....
