BBQing in the Snow

I had already planned for us to have hamburgers on Tuesday night and Brad didn't like the idea of us using the inside Cuisinart grill, so....

Here is Brad BBQing in the SNOW! That night we had 10 inches of snow. It came fast and furious.. 2 inches an hour and there were strong winds too! But here is my sweet hubby BBQing in the snow with a happy face! :-)

The hamburgers were delicious and very much appreciated by our family that night! 

Turns out the storm was so bad, that some people were stuck on the road, unable to get home until 1 AM in the morning. The storm rightfully earned the name "Gridlockalypse". Some of our dear friends lost their power! It is VERY cold in a house with no heat, so they came over to hang out with us!

Poor Julie had a cold on top of no electricity, but she was positive as always and is crocheting a beautiful blanket for Ava. :-)

Sweet baby Anna loves when we have friends come over to play with us! 

She is using her four teeth all the time now!  I love when she gives us big smiles. 

It's hard to believe that last year this time, Anna was still in growing inside of me, and by next year this time, Anna will be joining her sisters for all the snow fun! 

When daddy was home on Saturday, the girls got to go play in the snow! 

The girls actually enjoyed the snow more than ever before!

Jillian knew exactly what she should do when she got out in the snow...MAKE A SNOW ANGEL! 

Brad thought it looked like a lot of fun and made snow angels too.

Its amazing to me how Brad is able to make lying down in the cold, wet, icy snow look so enjoyable! I almost want to go out there and make a snow angel too. :-)

The girls (with daddy's help) made themselves little snow chairs to sit on outside. 

Daddy thought it would be fun to throw snow balls at me! I smartly decided it was time to close the door to the kitchen.

YAY for sweet snow memories in 2011! 

Today we received a phone call from Grammie and Grandad to tell us the news of the snow in the DFW area:

Grammie asked Jillian, "Do you have snow at your house too?"
Jillian replied, "Yes".
Grammie then asked, "Did you make a snowman?"
"No. We didn't have enough snow to make a snowman!"

I think Jillian was a little confused because I would have thought 10 inches of snow was more than enough to construct a snowman.  :-)

But it made me laugh anyway and also made me think about my own childhood.   Growing up in Texas, we never seemed to get an abundance of snow! But no matter how little snow we got, somehow we always managed to make a snowman from it.  I have cherished memories, of going to neighbors' house (who had no children) and "stealing"/ transporting their snow to our yard, so we could make a proper snowman. :-)  My girls have no idea how good they have it! They could make 10 snowmans from just the snow in our yard.
