"Look and Live"

The story of the Bronze Snake is one of the most powerful stories of our dependence on God and his mercy on us.  This last spring, this story really came to life for Brad and I when we taught several chapters in the book of Numbers to Jillian's 2nd grade Sunday School.

It came to my mind specifically today because of this post on the Desiring God web-site:

"The Bronze Snake

4 They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea,[c] to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way; 5 they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!”

6 Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died.7 The people came to Moses and said, “We sinned when we spoke against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.

8 The Lord said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.” 9 So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived."

We did a super simple but fun craft for this Bible story.  The Bible curriculum our church uses for the kids is OUTSTANDING.  They have so many different craft ideas and suggestions as to how to make the lesson relevant and understandable for the kids.

This is Jackson.  He was an absolute Bible whiz in our class.  His dad serves in our military and their family just moved to Singapore.

This is Josh.  He and Jillian have become great friends. They both really enjoy playing Wii, Legos, and basketball. His family homeschools as well!

This is Peter. His mom is one of Anna's teachers for the 4-year old class. She is one of the sweetest, most humble ladies.  

This was Jillian's favorite craft that we did in Brad's and my 12 weeks of teaching because it involved some of her favorite food.

Anna was technically not in this class, but she was our helper and enjoyed handing out papers and doing the crafts with us.  

This is Jillian's one of longest-time friends, Ava and Kaylee, our pastor's youngest daughter.

Thankful for these great kids and the Bible that they are eagerly hiding in their hearts.
