Usually when people say life is full of storms, they mean it in a metaphorical sense. Like, a few weeks ago, when we all had the stomach bug one after another. That was a 'stormy' time.
But a little less metaphorical might be the earthquake that struck in late August. Here is this report:

We didn't suffer any "damage" (however, some things did fall off their shelves), but Brad says it was the most scared for his life he has ever been. He was working on the 6th floor of his office, and the whole building was rattling and shaking. We found out later he should have ducked and covered under his desk, but along with many of his co-workers, he ran for the stairs. He says at first he wondered if a car had run into the building, or perhaps a bomb had gone off (there is a parking garage under his building). But slowly everyone started to realize that it must be an earthquake.
The girls and I were at home when the earthquake hit. Jillian was downstairs with me while Faith and Anna were asleep in their beds. It definitely startled them and woke them up. I posted on my Facebook page shortly after the earthquake, " EARTHQUAKE! It literally felt like someone was shaking our house." Our music pastor responded, "Someone was!" :-)
And just a few days later, we got hit by a REAL storm. Hurricane Irene. Now we did suffer a little damage. The siding on our roof peeled back and a young tree began to uproot (see below). But in the end, the winds didn't exceed 55 mph, and we are glad all those storms are behind us.

August 23, 2011: "The earthquake which hit at about 1:51 PM ET measured a 5.8 and lasted up to 45 seconds, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It shook office buildings and home and rattled residents from North Carolina to as far away as Ottawa, Canada."

So thankful no one was hurt during your hurricane and earthquake. Scary to face both, and both so close together! Thank goodness we have GOd to weather any storm of life!
