Lots of Yumminess

On Thursday, the day after our trip to Philly, Leigha and I enjoyed a "sister day".  First off, we took Jillian and Faith to Pump-It-Up for some Cosmos jumping! Then, Leigha and I dropped off the girls with Brad (he's my hero), and we went to my favorite DC restaurant, Clyde's.   We enjoyed calamari, cream of crab soup, and for our main course, crabcakes. Then we went to Massage Envy and enjoyed one hour massages! Afterwards, we picked up Chick-Fil-A on our way home, said good-bye to the girls, and Anna came along for the ride to the airport. It was a great visit, we spent a lot of time talking, and a couple of nights, we enjoyed watching old episodes of Macgyver (our mom loved that show).  I am so thankful my little sister came for a visit.

The next day, Friday, is our official baking day with Aunt Michelle and Lindsey!

Anna especially has learned a lot about measuring, mixing, even cracking an egg at Aunt Michelle's!

We made this beautiful apple cake, a recipe from America's Test Kitchen.  Yummy!

Earlier in the day, Michelle made this beauty of a pumpkin cake.  Our church care group LOVES meeting on Friday, because they get a sample of all the yumminess too!

Apple cake wouldn't be complete without fresh whipped-cream!

The next day was the scheduled day for our monthly visit to the local Women's Center.  Brad captured this photo of Anna being my helper serving some of the ladies fruit for their breakfast.
Meanwhile, the girls were sprucing the parking lot  up with some beautiful chalk drawings.  (Normally, we do not bring our camera to the center, but Salt Sunday is coming up in a few weeks and we needed to capture some photos of the upcoming projects!)

Right after the women's center, Jillian attended the birthday party of one of her good friends from Kindergarten. They went to Carvel and decorated their own ice-cream cake!   I thought she did a beautiful job.

Then that night, we had plans for BINGO night at the local Chick-Fil-A!

Anna and Faith did not get too into the game, but that was okay, they enjoyed playing their own games! Jillian, on the other hand, got VERY INTO BINGO!  In the end, as a family, we won two games. The first game, Anna won a new Chick-Fil-A calendar for next year.  The other win was Jillian's pick and it was for a plastic coffee cup with a coupon for a free kids meal and a free adult's meal!

After all the fun of the weekend, it was time for the school week to start again. And what's more fun then starting the week with RED jello?

I am  teaching little Anna her colors (and she's doing really well) and we are making it multi-sensory with food and games! Jillian and Faith were my big helpers.

The next day after that, Auntie Jen came over for the girl's art lesson and we surprised her by celebrating her birthday too! After lunch, we gave her this DVD set on National Parks.  She and Uncle Mike recently went on a trip to the Grand Canyon and we thought they might enjoy seeing other beautiful images of our country.
For dessert, we enjoyed some home-made chocolate chip cookies!! It was a yummy time.

  1. Goodness, you guys have been busy with lots of fun activities! I love your family, they are so much fun. So nice to meet your sister at the retreat, too. Glad you guys could enjoy a really nice time at Clydes. I've never been there and I've lived here all my life (hint for Mike!) :)
