My Review:
Tracie Peterson is one of my favorite authors. I have read many, many of her books and in my journeys through her writing, she has taken me to the West, Alaska, Southern cotton plantations, colonial Philadelphia, as well as New York and Montana! She has an incredible gift for transporting her readers to another place in another time but this book was set in modern times. Not only that, it did not give me the "happy ending" I normally go for in my reading for pleasure. And yet, I am really glad I took the time to read it, to put myself in the place of someone who is grieving and experiencing something beyond my understanding. Because of the raw emotions her characters displayed, I really empathized and was haunted by the characters in this book. As always, she did a remarkable job.

My Review:
I was absolutely intrigued by the book description for "Upside" and wanted to know more of what the author had to share. It was a very quick read and extremely reader-friendly (even with being filled with lots of statistics). Not everything Bradley shared was on the "upside" (it was an honest, balanced view) but it gave me a new perspective and thankfulness for the things that I have NOT been appreciating day to day (education, health, etc...). It was a worthwhile, encouraging read.

My Review:
I enjoyed this book. I really felt as though I could relate to a couple of the characters and their dilemmas. Unfortunately, it wasn't a super fast read for me, the story-line was predictable and there weren't too many surprises. But I thought the historical content was interesting and it was a entertaining, light-hearted read.
