Damascus County Fair

(My many thanks to Brad for writing this post for me last week. I have felt like I am drowning in the MANY posts that I really want to put on our blog and haven't had enough time to do. So,  one night, while I was out running errands, my thoughtful husband, Brad, offered to do one for me.   I am guessing Brad didn't know I would give him credit for this post when he wrote it. And because I write 95% of the posts on the blog, he decided to write it from (what he perceives to be) my perspective.  His sense of humor is a treasure to me. I hope you enjoy it too!)

A few weekends ago, we heard that the community of Damascus was holding a local fair and that it would be completely free!  We were very excited and invited our friends, the Piersons, along as well.    We met on the fair grounds at 10:30, and the weather was overcast and cool: perfect for a day outside with little ones.  

The first thing to do was to move safely through the parking lot.  Brad linked up with our two older girls plus the Pierson's two oldest.  Trouble was, they had made a circle!  Coming to the conclusion that they could not travel in a circular formation, Ellie and Jillian decided to break the chain, and allow it to stretch out in a single line.  Off they went!

As luck would have it, the hay-ride was waiting for some new passangers just as we got to the fair.   How exciting!!  Notice how nicely Faith is sitting with her legs crossed.  This is really because the hay was itching her, and she was trying to minimize skin contact with the it.

After the hay ride we looked at some local crafts, got some free popcorn, and talked about the life of a firman with a local fire crew.  The girls were pretty amazed by all the work they do.  They thought it was just fires, but turns out they rescue people in all sorts of trouble.

Next we found an area for little children to play in, like throwing a ball through some tiny holes.  Brad and Brian were quickly competing to see who could get the most through.  For the sake of my husband's pride, the winner shall remain anonymous.

They also had a clever game where you pump water to make some rubber-duckies travel down a gutter.  All the kids had fun taking turns with the water pump.

John Deere had a representive present with their many types of John Deere tractors.  Couldn't resist getting a picture of the girls.  This is what our life would have been like if Brad had chosen Agriculture Management as his major, instead of Biochemistry ... it was a close call.

It was a very fun day.  We followed it with some McDonald's for lunch and Jimmy Cone soft serve ice cream cones for desert.  We were all wiped out from being out for so long, but none more than Anna.
