The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring
For my graduation, my dear wife bought me a 3 hour pass to the Adventure Park at Sandy Spring. I had been saying for some time that I wanted to do a ropes course some time, and so she bought not just one, but two passes for me to invite a friend. Well, when Daniel came into town it was the perfect chance to hit the course.
We strapped into our harnesses, learned how to use their fool-proof system to hook into the life-line, and started off on a medium hard course. After doing another medium course, Daniel decided it was time to try the super hard, double-diamond black course. It was 50 feet up in the air, and the second video demonstrates one of the harder obstacles. Each course was like that, made up of a dozen or so obstacles between platforms built onto tall pine trees. In the below movie you'll see some U-shaped ropes. There was a harder version where the ropes alternated lengths. At first high, then low, so you were having to step up and down as well as onto a moving obstacle. Tricky!
It was a lot of fun and I hope to go back sometime next year. I highly recommend it to anyone thinking of going, and it is good for 10+ year olds too, though height (about 5.5ft+) is a definite advantage. It also helps to have a former Marine brother-in-law go in front of you and force you to overcome your fears and keep up! Thanks Daniel for going with me.
And thanks Lauren for giving me such a special gift!!
