A few weeks ago, our close friends here in Maryland threw a birthday party for their 3 year old. It was a very special event and we loved being able to celebrate with their family!

The kids sitting with Papa and Nana Glenn for some pizza

The Glenn's neighbor, Sybil, Jon Lockard, Brad, and Anna

Singing "Happy Birthday" to Madeline- it was a yummy Carvel ice cream cake

Little Brother Oliver

Madeline and Jillian giving hugs

Papa Glenn helping Oliver ride Madeline's new strider

Uncle Daniel hanging the pinata (or "yata as Madeline likes to call it) down from the loft

The story goes that Madeline decided she wanted a pinata after she went to Jillian and Faith's birthday party. She picked her pretty flower one from the Amish Market in Germantown. It doesn't have any strings hanging out of it (for the kids to pull), so the kids had the fun of whacking it with a racket!

Faith had her daddy help her whack it!

Sweet Madeline was content watching her friends whack (don't you love that word?) the pinata for her. :-)

Up the pinata went!!!

Jillian tried really HARD to hit the pinata!

After many attempts by the kids to open the pinata, Andrew opened it up for them!

And out spilled the yummy candy....Nerds, Gobstoppers, Sweet-tarts and much much more!

Papa Glenn throwing the ball with Faith! Faith did a good job of catching and throwing it too! We always have fun at the Glenn's house and loved sharing their Nana and Papa for the night.
It's a little embarrassing that you blogged about it before I did. But, thanks for being such wonderful friends and sharing Madeline's special day with us!
ReplyDeleteFun! Birthday parties are the best. I want one of those flower pinatas...but sadly a little girl I have not. ;)
