Dallas World Aquarium:
"Experience nature’s adventure at The Dallas World Aquarium. The facility is home to a unique display of flora and fauna from five continents, 14 countries, three oceans, numerous seas and rivers.
The 200-foot Wilds of Borneo Entrance ramp is lined with plants and animals representative of this region of the world for your enjoyment as you enter the complex.
The indoor adventure begins at the top of the Orinoco - Secrets of the River rainforest exhibit. The upper levels showcase mixed avian species as they fly freely throughout the vegetation, foraging for food, building nests, caring for their young or preening
at the top of the 40-foot waterfall. Mammals, ranging in size from small Vampire bats to large Antillean manatees, share the rainforest with amphibians, reptiles, invertebrates and fish.
The Aquarium portion of The Dallas World Aquarium includes marine species from around the world. Adjoining the aquarium are the outdoor South Africa exhibit and the seasonal Madagascar display. The indoor pathway continues at the bottom level of the Mundo Maya exhibit by way of a forty-foot long tunnel through the Cenote filled with sharks and rays. The stone pathway ascends into the upper levels where tiny hummingbirds and large raptors have an up-close encounter with the tall Tree of Life."

Uncle Nate, Brad, Ruth Ann, Luke, Jillian, and Faith enjoying an animal exhibit! One of my favorite animals was the GIANT anteater!
These were HUGE crocodiles! Initially, we only saw one of them but then we were surprised by the second one!
It was absolutely fascinating watching the sloths....they are Slow-moving! I am sure they would have been content to just hang their entire time, but their food arrived and so we got to see them actually move a little bit. :-)
Aunt Beth, Mimi, Brad, Faith, and Jillian enjoying the tropical fishes. It was really neat how the tanks were set up, each tank featured fish from a different country!
Ruth Ann was entertained by pushing her stroller around! She has grown up so much since we saw her last! She is an absolute cutie-pie!
Another of the highlights was the "22,000 gallon tunnel with a panoramic view of underwater reef life". It featured sharks, turtles, and sting-rays and was AMAZING! We went during a feeding and we watched the animals compete for their food! There were lots of "Oohhs and Ahhs" from the big crowd of people!

We also saw penguins! You may be thinking Penguins??? In Dallas, Texas? In 110 HEAT? But they were actually African Penguins and originate from.... you guessed it....AFRICA! :-) It was a lot of fun to see these little guys. The only thing that was a little sad was we did see one older penguin that didn't look like he was in the best of health. But overall, they were a chipper group of penguins and seemed to love their home at the Aquarium.
After the penguins, each of the girls were able to pick a gift from Mimi and PawPaw with their souvenir money. Jillian picked a jaguar (which seemed a little random at the time but we later discovered that there was actually a jaguar at the aquarium and we missed it!). Faith picked a purple purse with a little unicorn in it (even more random, but it is a special memory)! :-) And Anna "picked" a glow in the dark bouncee ball and an African penguin magnet to put on our freezer.
After our adventure at the aquarium, we went back to Mimi and PawPaw's for lunch and then we had ice-cream cones!
Thank you Mimi and PawPaw for hosting us for an amazing visit in your home and at the aquarium! It was the perfect time together. :-)
***Unfortunately my battery died on my camera and I was not able to take any other photos of our visit while in Dallas. The good news was that my Dad and Marilyn have the same camera as me and I was able to recharge my battery while at their house and then I was able to take more photos of the remainder of our trip!***
